PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Red Cross is asking for volunteers to join them in helping residents navigate through the most common disaster in the country. According to the Red Cross, home fires remain the most common, with 27 fires affecting 200 people in Rhode Island since December 1. The Red Cross is looking for people to join their “disaster action team” to respond to these emergencies with comfort kits, emotional support and a place to stay. They’re holding an open house Thursday at their Providence office on Niantic Avenue from 4 to 8 p.m. Categories: News, Rhode Island
