MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Memphis Fire Department says an arrest has been made in a suspicious fire that caused $4.1 million in damages to a Summer Avenue strip mall last month. Fire investigators said they determined the fire was intentionally set on the exterior and that Carl King was responsible. Summer Avenue shopping center fire was arson, MFD says Carl King. Courtesy: MFD Thirty-eight fire trucks responded to the blaze in 3200 hundred block of Summer just before 4:00 a.m. on Dec. 23. MFD said the fire started at Scooters Plus. The business was connected to several others in a recently renovated strip shopping center. A new restaurant nearby was temporarily closed due to damage. It took firefighters five hours to put out the fire. MFD thanked the public for all the tips they said led to King's arrest. There is no word on the charges King is facing.
