HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A local professional surfer is part of a star-studded cast on FOX's hit show 'Special Forces: World's Toughest Test' where contestants endure some of the harshest, most grueling challenges of the actual special forces selection process. "I definitely had to think about it because I have two young boys, and I have never been away from them for a long time. So I had to put a lot of thought into it, but I wanted to do it to show them that mom can do hard things. I just thought it'd be a really cool opportunity to kinda showcase my athleticism and, just do something that I've never done before," Blanchard said. As for athletes, the cast also features former NFL stars Cam Newton and Golden Tate, Olympic Gold Medalist Marion Jones, and soccer star Landon Donovan among others. "And then even when I was there, I didn't really know who Cam Newton was or all the athletes that are just so amazing. I think everyone just was in such a new environment that we just had to kinda really lean on each other. We didn't really care if, you know, you're, like, a Super Bowl player or what it was." The cast has had to do things like unlock a safe in a gas filled room, perform a helicopter insertion in a frigid sea, and bury teammates into coffins. "I would say the first few days was definitely a shock because, I had no idea what it was gonna be like," Blanchard said. "I watched previous seasons, and I was like, okay. I got this. This doesn't seem that hard, but it's definitely nonstop. They are yelling at you if a zipper is untied and you have to do, like, 30 push ups. But I would say, definitely, I hit my breaking point when I got gassed."
