HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Maui Department of Water Supply (DWS) is reminding residents and visitors in Central and South Maui to continue conserving water as the region remains under a Stage 1 Water Shortage. The affected service areas include: Waiheʻe Waiehu Wailuku Kahului Spreckelsville Pāʻia Kuau Māʻalaea Kīhei Wailea Mākena Honolulu Ocean Safety to hold first lifeguard recruit tryouts of 2025 A Stage 1 Water Shortage is declared when the anticipated water demand is projected to exceed available supply by 1% to 15%. Under the current restrictions, irrigation is limited to two days per week. The DWS has set the following schedule to help manage water use: Even-numbered residential addresses: Monday and Friday Odd-numbered residential addresses: Tuesday and Saturday Even-numbered commercial facilities and multifamily units: Wednesday and Sunday Odd-numbered commercial facilities and multifamily units: Monday and Thursday The DWS urges everyone to follow the schedule and reduce water usage wherever possible to ensure a steady supply for the community.
