GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Green Bay's city council committee approved development plans for Lombardi Avenue on Tuesday night, advancing projects that have been years in the making. "I do want to thank the neighbors, because if you think back to eight years ago, or even the original proposal that came out in the fall, it was enhanced and it was improved, and it was improved because of neighbor feedback," said Brian Johnson, Alderman of District 9. "And I do want to thank the developers as well, because you could have given up on this eight years ago." Port of Green Bay seeks partners for development at former Pulliam Plant Site The development will include a four-story, 24-unit apartment building at the corner of Ridge Road and Thorndale Street, and a four-story, 8-unit condo building at Thorndale and Frank streets. Tim Kuehn, owner of Margarita's Restaurant, expressed strong support for the project at the meeting, emphasizing its benefits for the greater Green Bay community. "I think that for all you alders who represent all the constituents, it's obvious that 99% of your constituents, outside of Chris's alder, would be for this project," Kuehn said. Kuehn, who owns most of the property and is behind two of the three proposed buildings, has ceded some land to improve traffic flow on Ridge Road and surrounding streets. He highlighted the importance of continued development in the Titletown District. "You promised your residents development," he stated. "That's part of your agreement with the Packers, is that you want economic development." However, some neighbors voiced concerns about increased traffic and the potential impact on neighborhood aesthetics, particularly the height of the buildings. Former Packers cornerback Terrell Buckley lands NCAA head coaching gig "If you're standing on the corner of Frank and Shadow, it's not 50 feet, it's 64 feet. Compare that to the single-family homes that are neighboring that," said Cheryl Wolf. "That's a huge difference, and it kind of takes away from the character of our neighborhood." Kuehn indicated that he hopes to begin construction as early as this fall.
