After arctic cold, higher temps fill the forecast
Jan 22, 2025
Temperatures are around 20° through the early morning. A weather system moving through has made us mostly cloudy and produced the chance for a few scattered snow showers. Some additional snow showers fall during the day Thursday.
Most areas will only pick up a coating of snow. However, some areas north/northwest of Fort Wayne may pick up a total of a half-inch to 1", as lake effect snow showers are more likely to blow into those areas once the cold front moving through heads east.
Some Thursday snow showers lay down some light accumulation amounts across the region.
Thursday's high temperatures climb to the mid-20s. The mostly cloudy sky continues with some breezy moments, especially later in the day with westerly gusts up to 25 mph. At night into Friday, conditions get cold with lows in the upper single digits and wind chills in the single digits below zero (not as intense as the -20° wind chills we've previously experienced this week).
Thursday afternoon's high temperatures reach the mid-20s
Friday will be slightly colder, thanks to the passage of Thursday's cold front, with a high around 20° under a mostly sunny sky.
Over the weekend, highs rise to the freezing mark on Saturday. Sunday's temps dip back to the upper 20s. Next week, though, is filled with highs in the 30s and a chance to hit 40°+ on Wednesday.
