Trump reverses Biden healthcare, what it could mean for Americans

CHARLOTTE, NC — More change is coming in the second Trump era.
Many are left wondering what’s going to happen in the healthcare industry after President Trump signed an executive order reversing the Biden Administration’s policy to lower the cost of prescription drugs for people on Medicare and Medicaid.
“It feels like he’s just looking at the bigger picture and attempting to to maybe change the whole process around the Obamacare,” said Charlotte pharmacist, Greg Deese.
Medical experts don’t believe the new orders will impact most Americans. Biden’s biggest health care initiatives, like a $35 monthly cap on insulin and a $2,000 annual out-of-pocket cap on prescription drugs are also not effected by Trump’s executive actions, for now. What Trump did do was take away funding for Medicaid, effectively weakening the program.
Deese believes these actions could cost people on Medicaid more money in the short term. He says the upside of the changes could be more transparency from insurance companies who often times charge customers more than the drug actually costs.
“There’s no transparency in pricing. So who is actually where’s the money going?” continues Deese, “making price transparency better, I do see if that would happen, I think customers would definitely benefit in the end from it.”
