LANDOVER, Md. (DC News Now) -- The excitement around the Washington Commanders is still strong, with four days until the NFC Championship. All across the D.C. area, longtime fans and new fans of the burgundy and gold are gearing up for the matchup with the Eagles. For some fans, this season is the moment they have dreamt of for decades. For others, this is the Commanders team that will make them fall in love with Washington football. Herson Reyes was at the Commanders Team Store on Wednesday buying himself a Terry McLaurin jersey, and his 12-year-old nephew a Jayden Daniels jersey. "That's really all we need," he said when asked about the chances of a Commanders Super Bowl. "That'll hold us off for another 30 years." The hottest team in the NFL has been a rallying point for all fans, including Lynn Haase, a marching band alumni. "Just to see the energy when the team scored or intercepted or did anything great, it was really unbelievable," she said. They are planning a similar watch party for the NFC Championship. But many fans watched the win over Detroit from home, including Nadine Duplessy Kearns. That historic win was the first game she ever watched from start to finish. "I got swept up in the excitement of the season," she said. Duplessy Kearns has lived in the Washington area for years. Her husband and sons are big fans and have attended games together. While she followed the team over the years, she was never invested enough to watch them until now. Part of her passion comes from watching Mike Sainristil because of her Haitian background. But most of her excitement comes from watching rookie star Jayden Daniels. "Just sort of watching somebody at his age have that level of composure and maturity and respect … just for me, that's really what it's about," she said. The Commanders will try to win their third consecutive road playoff game and clinch a berth in the Super Bowl. They play in Philadelphia on Sunday at 3 p.m.
