ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – 16 years and 16 points. Our Wednesday Primetime 585 Shining Star this week puts the spotlight on Brady Williams. The senior guard at Oakfield-Alabama laid it all out on the basketball court Tuesday night, scoring 16 points for his team, the Hornets, against Notre Dame. The team won 65-58 in the end. What's more, those 16 points were scored on the 16th anniversary of his cancer diagnosis. Provided: Primetime 585 When Brady was just a child, his parents said they were told he wouldn't be able to walk without assistance after he was diagnosed with Stage III Neuroblastoma. "The cancer was a constant threat to his spinal cord, and he has endured several difficult surgeries on his journey to health," his family explained to Primetime 585. Provided: Primetime 585 14 years of enduring cancer treatment, Brady underwent a major surgery to treat scoliosis, a result of former cancer surgeries. "All he wanted to do was be able to play basketball again," his family said. And so, he did. This season marks his second and final back with the Hornets after that major surgery. Provided: Primetime 585 "He is a quiet and humble presence on the court and is so blessed to have amazing teammates, coaches, and the OA community around him," said family. Outside of basketball, his family told Primetime 585 he plays golf and tennis. From all of us here at WROC and Primetime 585, thank you for sharing your light with the community, Brady! Good luck on all your future endeavors.
