WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- A Wichita restaurant is a semifinalist for the prestigious James Beard Award. Georges French Bistro has been named a semi finalist in the Outstanding Restaurant category. The award founded in 1990, is named in honor of culinary expert James Beard, the author of multiple cook books, and the first chef to ever cook on national television. Past winners of the award include chefs like Julia Child, Bobby Flay, Alton Brown, and the late Anthony Bourdain and his friend José Andrés. If Georges French Bistro wins, it would not be the first Kansas restaurant to get a James Beard Award. The Brookeville Hotel in Abilene won in 2007 for best restaurant and chef in the American Classics category. Georges French Bistro, located at 4618 E. Central, is open seven day a week, but you may need to make a reservation.
