Jenks Public Schools notified parents of an incident at its middle school on Jan. 22. Parents in Jenks are concerned after the school board confirmed a middle school student brought a knife to school this morning.According to the school district, a student pulled a knife on another student. However, no one was hurt. The district says administrators were nearby and alerted the school resource officer.Due to the quick response, nobody was hurt.Police took the student to the office and took the knife. "Students involved will be disciplined according to Board policy," the statement read. The district tells 2 News it started as a fight between two middle school students.2 News Oklahoma's Isabel Flores spoke with David Crow, a parent whose son saw the incident unfold. Caused a lot of concern in our household, in terms of his safety, his friends safety, his teachers safety," he said. Hes obviously alarmed, scared, concerned. Its a huge distraction for someone trying to learn."He says he hopes the school will allocate more resources to make sure this doesn't keep happening.Id like to see them be more proactive with security, Id like to see them have more translators," he said "We need more resources in the classroom, we need our schools to be expanded. Jenks Middle School has more students at it than ever before.Rob Loeber is the Public Information Officer with Jenks Public Schools. He said safety is always the top priority. We have our own Jenks Public Schools police department with fully trained and fully certified officers, one of whom is stationed at the middle school throughout the day," he said.
