BOSTON (WWLP) - The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation announced on Wednesday that it has appointed a new Board Chair and two new Directors. Board member Dr. Thomas H. Lee, a cardiologist, primary care physician, and clinical researcher, was appointed as Board Chair. President and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Sarah Iselin and Dean of the School of Public Health and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Anna Maria Siega-Riz have been appointed as board members to the foundation. State plans to close Canton rehab hospital for children, move program to Westfield Dr. Lee has been a physician for over 30 years, currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer of Press Ganey and a cardiologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Lee also teaches at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He joined the foundation board last year. Iselin served as the President of Blue Cross Blue Shield from 2010 to 2012, later taking on roles such as Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President of Strategy, Policy and Community Partnerships before taking on her current position as President and CEO of the company. Siega-Riz completed her bachelor's degree in public health and doctorate in nutrition at the North Carolina School of Public Health, and completed her master's degree in food, nutrition, and food service management at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Siega-Riz's research at UMass Amherst focuses on maternal and child nutrition and health. “Ms. Iselin and Dean Siega-Riz bring extraordinary expertise and insight to the Foundation,” Lee said.  “Their leadership in health policy and public health reflects a deep commitment to creating more equitable communities.  As the new chair of the board, I look forward to the perspectives they will bring as we work to address disparities and improve access to health care across the Commonwealth.”  For more information, visit the foundation site bluecrossmafoundation.org.
