"The decision to implement this surcharge is necessary in response to the dramatic increase in egg prices caused by supply chain disruptions and adverse conditions affecting poultry production across the country.
We understand that any price adjustment can be an inconvenience to our guests, and we are grateful for their understanding during this unprecedented time. Fresh cracked eggs are a staple in our beloved breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches, and we want to ensure that we can continue to provide these menu items without compromising on quality," Blake's Lotaburger stated in a press release.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average cost of a dozen Grade A large eggs was $4.15 in December, up from $3.65 in November. In 2023, the average price was $2.51 in December.
Blake's Lotaburger did not say how long the surcharge will last.
