Winningest head coach in KHSAA football history passes away

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Legendary high school football head coach Philip Haywood has died as a result of injuries he sustained from a serious car accident on Saturday.
Haywood passed away at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington on Wednesday after his condition declined. Haywood was the head coach of Belfry High School in Pike County and was the state’s leader in wins with over 400.
He coached in Lexington for a few years at Tates Creek High School for fellow legend Roy Walton. This is a developing news story and more details will be published as they become available.
