INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced that East 71st Street will be closed for the next week as road crews begin demolishing the I-465 South bridge. According to an INDOT news release, E. 71st Street and the adjacent trail are scheduled to be closed starting Thursday, Jan. 23, at 7 a.m. to Thursday, Jan. 30. The closures are part of a project to reconstruct the I-465 bridge over 71st Street. INDOT encouraged drivers to use 75th Street as a temporary detour during the closure. INDOT added that the timing of the closures could be affected by the weather.
