CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) -- Patsy Avery, of Midland, won a $332,952 Cash 5 jackpot on Sunday, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.
“I don’t dream very often, but I had a dream I would win the lottery,” Avery said. “When I dream, it usually comes true.”

Avery, a grandmother of four, said she has a strategy she likes to use when she plays the lottery.
“I pick a bunch of different stores and buy tickets at each one,” she said. “I probably stop at 10 different stores.”
Avery bought her winning $1 Cash 5 ticket from Jerry’s One Stop on N.C. 27 East in Iron Station.
Her ticket matched all five numbers to win the jackpot. The odds of matching numbers on all five balls are 1 in 962,598.
“I’ve been playing my same numbers for a long time,” Avery said.
She claimed her prize on Tuesday at lottery headquarters. After required federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $238,893.
Avery said she didn’t have plans for her winnings yet, so she will put it in savings for now.
