Vote for these Maryland nominees in USA Today’s Readers’ Choice contest, including ‘Best Art Museum,’ ‘Best Free Museum’ and more

Several Maryland cultural institutions are in the running for various categories of USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.The American Visionary Art Museum is vying for the top spot in the Best Art Museum category. AVAM is in fourth place as of this article’s publication.Two Maryland institutions are competing for Best Free Museum: Baltimore Museum of Art and Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum. As of this article’s publication, BMA is in eighth place and Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum is in 17th.In the Best Museum Ship, Baltimore is represented by Historic Ships in Baltimore, which oversees four vessels: the USS Constellation; USS Torsk submarine; LV116 Chesapeake; and the last surviving war ship of Pearl Harbor, the USCGC Cutter Taney. Historic Ships in Baltimore is in 18th place as of this article’s publication.Outside the Baltimore area, Maryland also has contest representation from cultural institutions in Montgomery and Allegany counties.Glenstone is nominated in the Best Sculpture Park category. Located in Potomac, it is the nation’s largest private contemporary art museum. As of this article’s publication, Glenstone is in 16th place.In the Small Town Museum category, the Allegany Museum in Cumberland is among the nominees.
