I5 shut down at Grapevine through Highway 126 due to Hughes Fire: CHP

FORT TEJON, Calif. (KGET) -- The California Highway Patrol announced the closure of I-5 from Grapevine Road in Fort Tejon to Highway 126, just north of the Castaic Junction Wednesday afternoon due to a large brush fire burning in the Castaic area.
All northbound I-5 lanes are closed, just north of Highway 126 and all southbound lanes are closed at Grapevine Road due to the Hughes Fire, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A detour is in place at Highway 126 if you are traveling northbound. Highway 14 is an alternate route for northbound and southbound traffic, officials advised.
Officials urge motorists to avoid the area along I-5 near Castaic. There was no estimate for when I-5 would reopen to traffic.
The Hughes Fire caused multiple off-ramps and on-ramps closures along the I-5 in Los Angeles County before finally shutting down the affected area of roadway.
The Hughes Fire has burned over 5,000 acres and forced evacuations in the surrounding area.
