'It's disrespectful': Travis County property being used as dump site
Jan 22, 2025
TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) – A Travis County property has become a small dumping ground, according to a concerned neighbor.
Located near the intersection of Dee Gabriel Collins Road and McKinney Falls Parkway, an onlooker can see hundreds of tires, shopping carts, mattresses and dozens of bags of trash.
“It’s disrespectful. It’s no way to live in Texas. I mean it shouldn’t be happening,” said the neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous. “This is a beautiful area, and it's just being disrespected.”
He said he’s attempted to flag the issues to officials but has not had any luck. It appears the plot of land detritus has been left is privately owned.

KXAN contacted the property owner listed in the Travis Appraisal Review Board database. The Kentucky-based LLC said it would look into the issue.
A county representative said residents can report trash or dumping on county land, but the county cannot act on privately owned land.
“Travis County residents can report trash on public right of ways of County maintained roads to our Transportation and Natural Resources Road and Bridge division,” the county representative said.
The neighbor who contacted KXAN said when he moved into the area three years ago, the plot was clear. He said it has slowly accumulated since then.
“The property owners should definitely be aware of this,” he said. “This isn't a dump. It's pretty obvious to me and to most people, but it is being used as one. It's a shame.”
"I just don't find an excuse for this behavior. It's embarrassing,” he continued.
