Scoop, There It Is! The nod to the 1993 hit and jock jam staple “(Whoomp!) There It Is” is among the six winning names in Chicago’s third annual snowplow-naming contest.The other winning names, announced by the city’s Department of Streets and Sanitation, include Bozo the Plown; Lollaplowlooza; My Kind of Plow; Snower Wacker; and Bean There, Plowed That.Thousands of residents selected the six winners from 50 finalists posted on Jan. 10, according to Streets and Sanitation. Chicagoans had until midnight Tuesday to weigh in on their favorite.Last year’s winning names were Skilling It; CTRL-SALT-DELETE; Casimir Plowaski; Ernie Snowbanks; Mies van der Snow; and Bad, Bad Leroy Plow. Related City unveils winners of You Name a Snow Plow contest “Thank you again to the many Chicagoans who continue to engage in this contest by submitting and voting for these fun and creative names,” said DSS Commissioner Cole Stallard. “The contest has become an annual tradition, and each year city staff has a great time tallying up the votes and seeing the winners.”The winning snowplow names will be emblazoned on signage that will be installed on snowplows in each of the city's six snow districts. Residents behind the winning names will be invited to a photo opportunity with the snowplow bearing the moniker.Former Mayor Lori Lightfoot launched the annual snowplow-naming contest in 2022. The winning names that year included Mrs. O’Leary’s Plow; Salter Payton; Sears Plower; and Jean Baptiste Point du Shovel.Residents can view the newly named snowplows, along with the rest of the snow fleet, during winter storms via the city’s plow tracker.
