Springfield Jewish Community Center set to reopen after 2022 fire

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Springfield Jewish Community Center (JCC) will be hosting an Open House to celebrate its grand reopening after a fire damaged the building in 2022.

On November 18, 2022, a fire started by an electrical malfunction in the sauna and damaged the women’s locker room and surrounding wellness and fitness areas. This grand reopening ceremony will mark the completion of two years of repairs following the fire.
Some of the highlights of the new renovations include:
State-of-the-art fitness center with best-in-class cardio and strength training equipment
New functional fitness studio with 40+ weekly exercise classes, personal training, and more
Refreshed aquatics center with six-lane indoor pool, aqua fitness classes, and WSI swim lessons
New locker rooms for men, women, and families, including private changing rooms with showers
New sauna and steam rooms, massage rooms, and other spa-like amenities
New equipment, lighting, and flooring in the Early Learning Center, which provides full-timechildcare for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
Welcoming and secure main entrance
New lobby seating and complimentary beverage station for socializing and conversation
The free open house will be held on February 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will offer sports demonstrations, drop-in fitness classes, membership tours, arts and crafts, and games. Registration is recommended on their website however, walk-ins are welcome with a valid ID. For those who can't make the February 9th date, there will be a smaller open house will be held on February 11th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
To celebrate the grand reopening and the open house, the Springfield JCC will be offering exclusive membership-related promotions and early bird pricing for the JCC’s summer camp.
“As we renovate this facility, we are becoming even more of a hub of activity in the neighborhood and surrounding towns,” said Karen Jarmoc, CEO of the Springfield JCC. “We look forward to growing our membership, expanding our programs, and continuing to serve the community proudly.”
