GDOT working to clear roads following statewide snowfall
Jan 22, 2025
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is currently working to clear roads following widespread snowfall throughout the state.
GDOT says the main priority is to clear I-16, I-20 and I-520. All roads are passable at this time but officials are urging residents to stay inside if possible.
There are currently more than 400 snow plows deployed around the state. They are working 12 hour shifts to remove the snow and salting bridges on the interstates due to the high risk of black ice.
GDOT says state routes will begin being plowed following the completion of all interstates and high priority routes.
GDOT offers a free service for all resident to be able to report issues on the roads. You can do so by dialing 511 on your phone, downloading the 511GA app on your mobile device or by visiting 511GA.org
