CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 36-year-old man has been arrested following a police pursuit that began in Chesterfield County and ended with the man running into a Henrico County home where officials said he refused to exit on Tuesday night. At about 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, an officer was traveling on West Hundred Road near Route 1 when he saw a red truck on top of the median sideways before its tires spun and it fishtailed over a sidewalk. According to police, the officer then turned around to make a traffic stop for the truck when he saw the truck hit a sign in the median and accelerate rapidly, fishtailing and almost hitting other vehicles as it traveled on West Hundred Road. The officer reportedly caught up to the truck in the area of Old Stage Road and pulled behind it with the police car's lights and sirens activated to initiate a traffic stop. Police said the driver did not stop and continued to drive recklessly. The officer then pursued the vehicle as it headed east on West Hundred Road, onto Rivers Bend Boulevard, and then onto Meadowville Technology Parkway. At one point, the suspect vehicle reportedly entered a parking lot and drove through several barricades. When the vehicle exited the parking lot, officials said the driver spun the vehicle out and came to a stop facing the officer's car. The suspect then accelerated the vehicle toward the officer's car and the officer had to accelerate out of the vehicle's path, according to police. Police said the suspect vehicle nearly hit another police vehicle before it headed toward Interstate 295, where it continued to drive on that road until the driver exited at the New Market Road exit. The driver then reportedly continued to travel onto Doran Road in Henrico County, passing other vehicles on the wrong side of the road before turning through a ditch to pull behind a residence in the 7400 block of Doran Road. According to police, officers saw the suspect running from the vehicle to the house, and as officers approached the house, they encountered a woman resident who said the suspect was in the house and had access to firearms. Police then got the woman and a child out of the home and called the Henrico County Police Division for assistance. Chesterfield Police officers reportedly obtained warrants for the suspect for felony eluding, reckless driving, two counts of hit-and-run and three counts of assault on law enforcement. Officers also obtained a search warrant for the house. When Henrico Police officers attempted to execute the search warrant, the suspect, identified as 36-year-old James Agee, initially refused to exit the home, which officials said was his residence. However, police said Agee eventually exited the home and was arrested and transported to the Chesterfield County Jail with no one reported injured in the incident.
