Founded by Lamar Hunt in 1969, the 101 Awards is the longest-running award ceremony in the United States, serving over a half-century as a program dedicated to recognizing excellence in the NFL.
According to the 101 Awards, players and coaches are recognized through a nationwide balloting system of 101 sportswriters and broadcasters who dedicate their time and efforts to covering all things professional football each year.
The awards program said that head coach Andy Reid earned this award after leading the team to a franchise 15-2 record and clinching a 10th run in the NFL postseason. But that's not all.
Not only did Reid take the team to the postseason again, but he also led the team to its ninth consecutive AFC West title as the first seed in the AFC playoffs.
Coach Reid, or Chiefs Kindom's "Big Red," is about to wrap up his 12th season with the team and his 26th season as a head coach in the NFL. Over the last two-and-a-half decades, he has earned a 273-146-1 regular season record and is the only head coach in NFL history to serve as the "winningest" coach of two successful franchises -- the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to the committee, this is Reid's fourth time receiving the Coach of the Year award, with recognitions in 2002, 2013, 2015, and of course, 2024.
