(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services (PRCS) is holding a public open house to discuss the management of Fishers Canyon Open Space on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The meeting will feature a brief presentation and the introduction of the draft master and management plan, and the public will have the chance to share their opinions and ask questions. “We would like to thank the community for their participation in the planning process as your input has been instrumental in shaping the draft plan,” said David Deitemeyer, senior program administrator for Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS). “We look forward to the discussions at the open house as we finalize the plan that balances recreational opportunities with cultural and natural resource protection in this incredible open space.”  Courtesy: City of Colorado SpringsCourtesy: City of Colorado SpringsCourtesy: City of Colorado Springs Fishers Canyon Open Space is located in the southwest foothills of Colorado Springs, bordering Cheyenne Mountain State Park to the south, the Broadmoor Bluffs neighborhood to the east, and the Pike National Forest to the west. There are currently no designated trails or official public access to Fishers Canyon Open Space, and the property will remain closed to the public until a trail system, trailhead, and management plan are established. The meeting takes place from 5:30 p..m to 7:30 p.m. at Cheyenne Mountain Junior High School at 1200 West Cheyenne Road.
