AM Headlines: Icy Roads, Poor Travel Conditions Bitter Cold Continues Gradual Warming Late Week Mountain Flurries Discussion: Roads will be icy today for areas that saw snow yesterday. Charlotte officially received .3″ at the airport. Extreme Cold Warning anf Winter Weather Advisory continues this morning with wind chills in the single digits, if not below zero. Highs will once again struggle to get above freezing today.. Any snow that melts from the sun will likely refreeze tonight as temps dip back into the teens this evening. The Arctic high will keep temperatures cold through the rest of the week, but they will gradually warm into the low 40s by Friday. A weak system moves through late week and could bring the mountains some flurries, but there won’t be any other wintry weather outside of the high country. This weekend will bring some relief with highs back near 50 by Sunday. Our next chance at widespread wintry weather arrives early next week. This will likely be cold rain for the majority of the region, but we could see a wintry mix across the mountains so it will be something to watch over the next few days.
