Schools announce changes for Thursday due to icy roads

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) -- Local school districts are adjusting their schedules this week due to icy road conditions.
A mix of snow and sleet began falling across the Charleston area Tuesday night and continued overnight into Wednesday morning, creating hazardous conditions on roads and bridges.
Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing, meaning snow and ice that melt could re-freeze overnight into Thursday morning.
Berkeley County School District
The Berkeley County School District will hold an e-Learning Day on Thursday for all students. Schools and district offices will remain closed.
Charleston County School District
CCSD will have an eLearning day and remote work Thursday due to cold temperatures and icy roads. All schools and district offices will be closed.
Dorchester District 2
Dorchester School District 2 will have an e-Learning Day on Thursday.
Students will receive information and assignments from their teachers no later than 9 a.m. Thursday, according to district officials.
All after-school activities are canceled and the LEAP Afterschool program will be closed.
The district Spelling Bee was rescheduled to Jan. 31.
Dorchester District 4
Dorchester District 4 will hold an e-Learning Day on Thursday for all students.
Officials said they are monitoring weather conditions and plans for Friday will be announced once a decision is made.
Williamsburg County School District
The Williamsburg County School District will be closed Thursday for an Inclement Weather Day. All WCSD offices will also be closed.
College of Charleston
The College of Charleston campus will remain closed on Thursday, with classes held virtually.
Addlestone Library will continue with virtual services until the campus reopens.
Residence halls are open, and dining and necessary support services are available to students. The Liberty St. Food Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Charleston Southern University
The university will continue online learning and remote work on Thursday. The campus gates are closed until further notice, meaning personnel and vendors must present their CSU ID to enter.
Students living on campus can still access dining, recreation, study spaces, and special snow day activities.
Private Schools
First Baptist School of Charleston will be closed Thursday
