INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Temperatures could rebound to near normal levels by the weekend.
Frigid morning:
A cold weather advisory remains in effect this morning. Most areas have seen temperatures slip just below zero. Wind chills are in the dangerous category, ranging between 10 to 20° below zero.
Today:
We are starting the morning off with mainly clear skies. Look for clouds to build as we get later on into the day. Meanwhile, the temperature should actually improve quite a bit as we head into the afternoon with a shift to southerly winds. Highs will top out into the low 20s, which is still below average but a drastic improvement compared to the last couple of days.
Wind gusts could reach anywhere between 25 to 30 mph, which will likely keep our wind chills into the single digits for much of the day.
Tonight:
Winds will ease up tonight. Mostly cloudy skies for the overnight hours and a few flurries could be possible at times overnight as well. Temperatures will actually hold pretty steady with overnight lows into the mid and upper teens.
Thursday:
We will see a cold front moving through the state on Thursday. There is not much in the way of moisture along this front, but a few flurries from time to time cannot be ruled out, especially for the morning hours. High temperatures will top out near 30°.
Friday:
Another quick shot of colder temperatures moves in on Friday following our Thursday cold front. High pressure will keep us dry and bright with highs into the mid 20s.
Warmer weekend:
A much-welcomed warming trend arises for the weekend. Southerly winds push in temperatures that actually should bounce back to near-normal or even above-normal levels. Both days appear to be dry as well, with highs into the mid and upper 30s.
7 day forecast:
Seasonable temperatures looked to continue as we head into next week. No significant weather events on the horizon with a relatively quiet pattern, shaking out at least through the middle of next week.
