ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The City of Rochester's Neighbors in Action (NIA) initiative is issuing grants for development opportunities. Mayor Malik Evans announced funding from ESL Federal Credit Union and the Rochester Area Community Foundation Tuesday afternoon. According to Evans, each will provide $100,000 to support the plan to provide $10,000 grants to qualifying community organizations. "We're not telling neighbors what we want them to do. We have ideas on what we want to see, but they will come to us and say, 'here's an idea that we've been talking about in our block club for a long time. Wouldn't it be cool if we had this? And if we just had $3,000, we could do this.' And that is what we hope to be able to see from this," Mayor Malik Evans said on Tuesday.
