SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A San Francisco-based coffee chain is expanding with another location. Andytown Coffee Roasters is opening a new cafe in downtown San Francisco. Andytown Coffee Roasters is "coming soon" to 747 Front St., according to signage posted outside the door. There is no set opening date for the cafe. The area, which neighbors Sydney G. Walton Square Park, could use a new coffee shop as that neighborhood's Starbucks is set to close next month -- prompting outrage from its local senior community. The Front Street location would mark Andytown's sixth in San Francisco and seventh overall. It is the second one to open downtown, joining 181 Fremont St. The lone shop outside of San Francisco is at 1302 El Camino Real in Menlo Park. Andytown Coffee Roasters was founded in 2014 by Michael McCrory and Lauren Crabbe in the Outer Sunset of San Francisco. In 2017, it opened its second location on Taraval, blocks away from the San Francisco Zoo. The shop has grown in popularity among locals as its Instagram page has grown to more than 25,000 followers. Last week, Andytown announced it will no longer charge extra for orders that use plant-based milks.
