Topeka council appoints new members to JEDO

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Topeka leaders have new faces representing the city on the Joint Economic Development Organization (JEDO).
At Tuesday's city council meeting, the governing body appointed two representatives to serve on JEDO for one year. JEDO is made up of the Shawnee County Commissioners and Topeka City Council working together for economic development and public improvements. Councilmembers voted for District 4 Councilman David Banks and District 8 Spencer Duncan to serve on JEDO for the rest of the year.
In 2025, Banks and Duncan will be the only voting members on JEDO from Topeka city council. Other voting members include the Shawnee County commissioners, Commissioners Riphahn, Cool and Mays, Topeka Mayor Padilla and Topeka Deputy Mayor Kell.
City leaders allow Topeka church to expand, house homeless
Last year, JEDO is responsible for approving multiple items that will bring hundreds of jobs to the capital city and surrounding areas: the expansion agreement of PTMW Inc., the expansion agreement of Southwest Publishing & Mailing, the incentive investment of $216,000 in Haas Metal Engineering Inc. (HME) and investing in the growth of Vaerus Aviation with a total inventive of $112,000.

2014: District 1 councilwoman Karen Hiller and former councilman Nathan Schmidt
