NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – New Mexico Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury is the second-in-command of a newly minted subcommittee. She is now the ranking member of the subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency, also known as DOGE. It's under the purview of the House Oversight Committee and it's tasked with cutting waste, fraud, and abuse. Rep. Stansbury said she is uniquely qualified for the position citing her time as a budget examiner for the white house. Rep. Stansbury stated in statement: “Americans need a federal government that works for everyone. As Ranking Member of the new DOGE Subcommittee, I will use every tool available to ensure that the government works for all Americans.    "As a former budget examiner in the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB), I know what good government looks like and am not afraid to fight for it.  At the same time, I am prepared to fight to protect the vital programs, services, and employees that keep our communities safe and the economy running. This means fighting to protect programs that help families put food on the table and a roof over their heads, protecting our kids and the environment and ensuring we have a government that looks like and works on behalf of the people it serves.  "We know there are broadly-supported, bi-partisan solutions that will improve government efficiency and transparency and I am ready to work together to find meaningful solutions. I am honored to be named the lead Democrat on this committee and have the opportunity to tackle the significant issues we have ahead of us.”
