NAGS HEAD, N.C. (WAVY) — Snow came down across the Outer Banks Tuesday night.
Snowfall covered parking lots, roads and even the beach. Residents were taking in the rare event.
‘We have to prepare for the worst’: NCDOT ready for snow
"We love some snow on the Outer Banks, as long as it's not too much," said resident Jennifer Halloran. “Everybody's excited. I think it'll be a one-day fun thing, so I can put up with it.”
Halloran moved to the Outer Banks 20 years ago to escape the winter weather, so she didn’t expect to experience the snowfall Tuesday.
However, she said her family will be making the most of it by sledding.
"On Jockey's Ridge, if it's possible, with a boogie board, no sleds with a slick bottom boogie board, if we have it," Halloran said.
Others who are braving the extra cold night say they are trying their best to enjoy the winter wonderland.
"My wife's been asking for it, my daughter's been asking for it," said resident Gustavo Espinoza. "I haven't, but you know, it's here.”
