HPD said Fujioka picked up Chun sometime after 9 p.m. on Friday and they were last seen at a gas station on Kipapa Drive. They arrived at Ke Iki beach around 10:30 p.m. Two teens missing in North Shore waters, search paused until morning Fujiokaʻs family found his car locked and secured at the beach the next morning and the coupleʻs belongings, including their phones and wallets, were found on a blanket on the beach. HFD said human remains were found Saturday afternoon around 200 yards off Ke Iki beach. "Just moments ago we received a report from the medical examiners office that those remains are in fact human and we have informed the family of such. We do not have confirmation though that those remains are related to this search effort," HFDʻs Jaimie Song said at a news conference. The USCG said they came to the difficult decision to suspend the search Tuesday night at sunset unless anything new came up. Chunʻs family released a statement thanking those involved in the search. "We donʻt know what happened that night. We donʻt know for sure that they went into the water. The waves were huge and both kids were born and raised in Hawaii and know and love the ocean."
