Why you’ll no longer see ‘Wind Chill Warnings’ this winter
Our Wednesday morning remains dangerously cold with wind chills still around -20°. However, we move past the most intensely cold hours of the day by the afternoon with highs reaching the upper teens. Wind chill values increase to the single digits above 0° by that point. So, overall, Wednesday's conditions represent a big warm up from our afternoon temps in the single digits Tuesday, but it's still a very cold day nonetheless.
Wind chill values are as low as around -20° Wednesday morning.
The sky becomes mostly cloudy on Wednesday and some snow showers are possible by late night, just an hour or two before midnight. Some additional snow showers are possible during the day Thursday. For most, Thursday's snow will produce just a new light coating on the ground. However, for those north or northwest of Fort Wayne, snow amounts could reach as high as 1", due to some lake effect snow showers blowing in behind the main weather system on Thursday.
Staying safe when it is bitterly cold outside
It will continue to be mostly cloudy, with warmer air flowing in from the SW, from nighttime Wednesday into early Thursday, which will help keep temperatures in the teens.
We'll see a continued increase in temperatures Thursday afternoon as highs will be in the mid-20s.
High temperatures reach the mid-30s on Saturday with the potential for temps reaching 40° by the middle of next week.
