EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Two people were displaced after an apartment fire that happened early Sunday morning, Jan. 19 in Las Cruces. Las Cruces Fire said that at 12:20 a.m. on Jan. 19, firefighters were dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 1115 Nevada Ave. Upon arrival, crews discovered heavy smoke and fire coming from multiple windows of one apartment attached to a multi-family structure, Las Cruces Fire said. Las Cruces Fire said the fire was brought under control in less than 20 minutes and was limited to a single apartment. One resident received medical treatment at the scene but did not require transportation for further treatment. The American Red Cross was called to help find temporary housing for two residents, Las Cruces Fire said. The cause of the fire and estimated loss are still under investigation.
