CORNELIUS, N.C. – New information in the case of Madalina Cojocari. Never-before-seen warrants obtained Friday by WCCB Charlotte shed new light on what investigators were looking for when they searched her mother’s home in Cornelius. The documents show detectives removed a notebook, folder, other items and several phones. Some of the phones were used to chat on the app Discord. Investigators say there were 37 unread messages on that app. They believed, according to the warrant, that those messages could be linked to the sexual exploitation of a minor. The warrants also show some items of Madalina’s were found on the family property, burned in a fire pit. Among the items burned were Madalina’s mattress, some of her clothing, a Halloween costume, and some family photos. Madalina’s mother, Diana, pleaded guilty to failure to report a missing person. She was released from jail on time served, and has since left the country. She is believed to be in Moldova. Madalina’s step-father, Christopher Palmiter, was found guilty in a jury trial last June. He has also been released due to time served. At last check, he was still living in the same home where the search warrants were executed. Madalina is still missing. She was last seen in November of 2022.
