BISMARCK (KXNET) — The 39th annual Water Expo is underway in Bismarck at the Event Center. The three-day event is the state’s largest water conference, bringing together water professionals to connect, learn, and showcase tools for maintaining clean water and wastewater systems. The Event Center saw 97 exhibitors display their products and services. “We’re glad to be here in Bismarck. It’s a wonderful venue that gives everyone room to explore new services," said Executive Director of the ND Rural Water Systems Association Eric Volk. "We also have space for larger equipment used by water and wastewater operators.” Today’s event includes training sessions on cybersecurity, engineering updates, and water resource management. “Our water and wastewater systems work 365 days a year," Volk added. "They can’t afford a bad day, so our members provide tools and services to ensure clean water and proper wastewater disposal.” The Expo has attracted over 200 attendees who are eager to share solutions and learn from one another. “We work virtually, so putting a face to the company is crucial," shared Shelly Howay, with Rural Water Impact & Municipal Impact. "While we talk on the phone often, meeting in person is the best part.” Boil water notice issued for City of Stanley Paul Swenson with Kodru-Mooney said, “This industry is full of great people, so it’s always nice to see everyone. I’ll definitely be walking out of here with a smile.” HFScientific Casey Kalicki said, “The goal is to meet people and ensure we’re providing the right tools for their needs.” For companies like HFScientific, the Expo serves as an opportunity to showcase essential tools designed to protect water quality. “We brought our chlorine analyzer, the CLX, and the monochloramine analyzer, the MCX," Kalicki explained. "These devices help facilities manage their disinfection systems effectively, whether they’re adding ammonia to chlorine or dealing with existing ammonia in surface or groundwater.” The Expo isn’t just about technology and tools. Organizers are preparing for the annual water taste test, which will take place tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. Last year, Valley City took home the win, and the year before, Walsh Rural Water District earned its first title. Thirteen districts will compete for the title of the best-tasting water in the state. The winner will be revealed at the awards luncheon buffet at 11:30 a.m. Close Thanks for signing up!
