Boil water notice issued for City of Stanley
Jan 21, 2025
STANLEY, ND (KXNET) — The City of Stanley has issued a boil water notice due to a drop in water pressure. Officials warn that this pressure drop could allow harmful bacteria into the water supply, making it unsafe for everyday use.
What You Need to Do:
Boil your tap water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, washing, or brushing your teeth.
Bottled water is a safe alternative during this time.
If you experience symptoms such as diarrhea, cramps, or nausea, contact your doctor immediately.

The city is working to restore pressure, flush the system, and test for contamination.
“As soon as we get the repeat or the samples back that show that it’s safe to drink — and that’s generally a 24-hour time frame — you can be sure that the water quality is safe to use once again,” says Greg Wavra from the Division of Municipal Facilities Drinking Water Program.
This boil water notice will remain in effect until tests confirm the water is safe to use. Updates will be posted on the City of Stanley’s website.
