I thought we responded in a big way, never flinched,” said Day. “And I think, again, if you think about the run we’ve gone on here in the playoffs, a big part of the way we’ve responded coming off the end of the season, but then even the way the Texas game went and the way we responded early in that first quarter, and then even in the second half, just continued fighting the momentum because Notre Dame was fighting to get it back.”Even though the Buckeyes are National Champions, it does not lessen the pressure on Day. Day is 68-10 in his six seasons in Columbus and has won 87% of his games. But, Day has lost four out of his last five games against the Michigan Wolverines. “Try losing the first game and see how that goes at Ohio State,” Day said.“None of us ever doubted for a second that he was the right guy to lead this team,” Ohio State quarterback Will Howard said. “We stuck together and we said we want to do it for each other, we want to do it for our coach, and let’s do this thing, man. I’m really glad that we were able to finish it the right way.”Meanwhile for Notre Dame, they finish the season with 14 wins and two losses. Head coach Marcus Freeman took the blame for communication breakdowns that lead to points for Ohio State.“You’re always making mistakes, but those type of detrimental mistakes when you play a really, really good football team cost you points,” Freeman said. “I think that’s probably the biggest thing that has stuck out to me even in between series, the communication. ‘Hey, we’re good, we got it.’ Well, we can’t make mistakes. It falls on my shoulders. And as the head coach, we have to prepare and be better prepared for this moment. These guys gave everything they got.”The post In Photos: Ohio State wins their seventh National Championship appeared first on The Atlanta Voice.
