WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Lunar New Year, which is being celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 29 this year, is a more than 2-week long celebration and will mark the transition into the Year of the Snake. Here are some events around the DMV that will be celebrating the Year of the Snake. Celebrating The Lunar New Year with Tiger Fork Virginia 2025 Lunar New Year Celebration in Old Town Alexandria Old Town Alexandria is hosting its third annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Atrium Building starting at noon and ending at 4 p.m. The event is free and family-friendly. Attendees can enjoy live performances, raffles, a Lunar New Year Market, photo booths and more. Everyone is required to register in advance and can do so here. Tết at the Eden Center The Eden Center in Falls Church will be celebrating Tết on Jan. 29 starting at noon. Everyone is welcome to enjoy traditional lion dances, a variety of activities and shop and eat at the various stores and eateries in the center. For more information, click here. Tysons Corner Center's Lunar New Year Celebration Ring in the Year of the Snake at Tysons Corner Center on Feb. 1 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a variety of dance performances, fashion shows, "festive activations" and more. For more information, click here. Rosslyn BID's Lunar New Year Celebration The Rosslyn BID will be throwing its Lunar New Year celebration on Jan. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Central Place Plaza. Starbucks releases Lunar New Year-inspired drink in China Washington, DC DC Chinese Lunar New Year Parade The Lunar New Year parade will be held on Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. and will be rain or shine. The annual parade in Chinatown will celebrate the Year of the Snake with a firecracker show and many eateries to choose from afterward. For more information, click here. Evening at the Embassy of China – Year of the Snake Celebration The Embassy of China is inviting everyone to celebrate Chinese New Year "on Chinese Soil (without ever boarding a plane!)" The event will be held on Feb. 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guests will enjoy a buffet filled with authentic Chinese delicacies, meet young Chinese diplomats, watch performances, learn how to make dumplings and much more. Lunar New Year Market The National Museum of Asian Art is having a Lunar New Year Market on Feb. 1 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. to celebrate the year of the snake. The market will be located at the Smithsonian Arts + Industries Building, with tons of activities, lion dancers food, artisans and makers and more. Maryland Lunar New Year Celebration at Tanger National Harbor The Tanger National Harbor will be hosting an inaugural Lunar New Year Celebration on Feb. 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy lion dance performances throughout the courtyard, celebrate the "rich culture and traditions of the Lunar New Year" and more. Head to the Wheaton Library in Silver Spring on Jan. 25 starting at 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. to watch students from the Li-Ming Chinese Academy "bring Chinese traditions to life." Students will perform a lion dance, put on a shadow puppet show, a yo-yo performance and more. There will be activity booths after the performance and more. Lunar New Year at the Gaithersburg Community Museum Everyone is invited to drop into the Gaithersburg Community Museum on Jan. 25 for a "fun-filled day with snake-themed craft activities" and more.
