FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man was killed after being ejected from his vehicle during a crash in Fresno County over the weekend, the California Highway Patrol said. Officers say they responded to a solo vehicle fatal crash in the area of Highway 33, south of Lincoln Avenue, in Fresno County on Jan. 18 at around 5:45 p.m. According to CHP, preliminary investigation indicates a male driver of Mendota was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon northbound on Highway 33, in the northbound lane, south of Lincoln Avenue at an unknown speed, when the GMC drifted to the right and the man overcorrected. Investigators say then, the GMC went back into the northbound lane before veering back to the right and entering a dirt field, where it rolled multiple times, resulting in the man being ejected. American Medical Response arrived on the scene and took over medical care. CHP says the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle. CHP says alcohol is suspected as a factor in this crash. The identity of the man has not been released.
