SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Chicopee woman has been arrested in connection with a crash in which a police officer was struck by a vehicle. Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that at around 4:15 p.m., a Springfield police officer was conducting traffic control at the intersection of State Street and Main Street outside of the MassMutual Center. The officer was conducting pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic. Springfield police said that the suspect, 30-year-old Taysia Williamson of Chicopee, was stopped at a red light at the intersection and was in a lane where she was not able to make a left turn onto Main Street. The officer conducting traffic told Williamson that she was unable to turn left, and Williamson allegedly ignored the officer and turned left. Williamson was alleged to have struck the officer while turning, with the officer landing on the hood of the car on impact. Williamson then drove away. Springfield police said that at approximately 6:45 p.m., Williamson was found by officers on the 100 block of Broadway Street in Chicopee and she was arrested.
