New Puerto Rican restaurant opens in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A new restaurant opened its doors in Springfield on Tuesday.

El Cafetín hosted a grand opening ceremony on Tuesday at their location at 276 Cottage Street. This new restaurant will bring authentic Puerto Rican flavors to Springfield and promises a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The restaurant will be serving traditional dishes that'll showcase Puerto Rico's rich culinary heritage. Carmen Howland, the chef at El Cafetín, has years of experience and dedication to quality.

State Representative Carlos González, State Representative Orlando Ramos, members of the Western Massachusetts delegation, and other community leaders, were at the grand opening.
Owner Luis Cotto told 22News, "It's been a blessing-- I was in the industry a couple of years back went out and I decided to come back here because it's our passion and our love it is what we love to do."
“I am thrilled to celebrate the opening of El Cafetín and the addition of more diverse culinary options in Springfield,” said Representative González. “This is not just a business; it is a testament to our community’s strength, culture, and entrepreneurial spirit. We look forward to seeing El Cafetín thrive and become a gathering place for delicious food and cultural connection.”
On top of serving patties --El Cafetin also offers breakfast meals, sandwiches, a personalized boricua bowl, soup, and desserts.
