ATLANTA (WSAV) — Jaylen Sneed and Notre Dame were unable to win the national championship and fell 34-23 to Ohio State. It was a game that many thought was over in the third quarter. That's when Ohio State led 31-7, but Notre Dame fought back. They were able to close the gap and made it a one-possession game late in the fourth quarter, 31-23. But ultimately, they were unable to make a stop on third and 11. Ohio State claimed the national championship. Sneed played on the biggest stage in college football and his family spoke to WSAV about his journey to the CFP title. "Very emotional," Sneed's mother, Chanta Ellison said. "When I walked into it, I had to really choke back the tears because this is so surreal. This is just this is what we dreamed of. This is what we've planned. This is what you know, it's all about this right now in this moment." His father, Jerrod Sneed said, "It was very emotional for me, you know, seeing him, you know, me living my dream for him. So, it was very emotional for me." Jaylen had an outstanding four-game college football playoff. He had two tackles against Indiana and Georgia, six against Penn State and one in the national championship game against the Fighting Irish. "I am literally so proud of him like this, and I know this is the best thing for him," his sister Chynna Sneed said, "but this is the best thing as an older sibling to see our youngest still sibling excelling at this level. So, I'm so proud of him. I thank God for him because without him I'd be an only child, and I love him to death." Part of Jaylen's inspiration comes from a motto. It's show up and show out. "I texted before every game," Chynna said. "Our saying is show up to show out. That's what our mom told us. So, we always tell each other, show up to show out. So, we're always pushing each other. I'm proud of him. He works very, very hard. Obviously, I don't play sports anymore, but he does. But he works very, very hard." I was able to speak with Jaylen after the game. He was obviously disappointed in the outcome, but he said he felt this team would be back in the national championship next year.
