StormTracker 8: Snow showers tonight; Cold tomorrow
Jan 21, 2025
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -A light dusting of snow is possible over the southeastern part of the area tonight while areas north and west of Richmond will avoid anything other than a few flurries.
Our friends in North Carolina are going to be the ones who see some of the heavier amounts of snow in the area with some locations seeing 3”-5” of snow, including the Outer Banks.
In the overnight hours, the clouds will start to break up over the area and that is going to keep us cold with lows in the single digits to the west of us and the lower teens where the clouds hold in a bit longer.
Tomorrow, the sunshine is back, but it will remain cold over us with the highs only in the mid to upper 20s.
Tomorrow night is going to be out best bet for seeing lows falling into the single digits here in the city.
Starting Thursday, we will begin the long climb out of the deep freeze. It will be partly cloudy, and the highs will return back into the mid to upper 30s.
After that, we are headed into the 40s over the weekend with highs nearing 50 degrees on Sunday, which is right where we should be.
A weak weather system will open the door for a few showers on Monday into Tuesday.
Once that moves by, a milder trend is on the way in the weather for the end of the month.
