CHOCTAW, Okla (KFOR) — A well-known animal rescue in Choctaw went up in flames Tuesday morning.
Fire crews spent the day containing a fire at Fur Ever Friends Rescue near Henney Road and E Reno Avenue.
"It's just a devastating thing that has happened," said Kim West, friend of rescue.

Police say the owner of the rescue, Diane Ketterling, noticed something unusual as she woke up to check on the animals, a flickering floodlight near the building.
"And thought, I need to get an electrician to look at that and next thing she knew, she saw a lot of smoke," said Chief Kelly Marshall, Choctaw Police Department.
Without hesitation, Ketterling jumped into action, risking her own life to save the animals she cares so deeply about.
"I don't have an account as to how many were lost, but she was treated for smoke inhalation. It just got too hot, there was a lot of straw in the building in that area. I believe it's what probably fueled it," said Chief Marshall.
Some animals died, however most of them were saved. The fire did destroy most of the rescue's supplies.
"Anything that you can think that you're going to take care of your dog. This is what their dog is going to need," said West.
While donations start to pour in, the main priority is making sure no dog is left in the elements.
"Her biggest concern right now was wondering if the dogs were going to get frostbite. Now, those are not just rescues, those are loved animals," said West.
Other rescues and volunteers showed up at the rescue to take in the displaced dogs.

"The building is a total loss, but she'll have to decide on what she'll do for the future," said West.
