WAVERLY, Va. (WAVY) -- Three people were seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash in Waverly Tuesday morning, police said. Courtesy: VSP Courtesy: VSP Courtesy: VSP Courtesy: VSP Virginia Station Police responded to the accident just before 9 a.m. on Route 460 east of Route 40 in the town of Waverly. A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2017 Honda Civic was traveling east before it slowed down to make a left turn into the Waverly VDOT facility. It was then that the driver of a 2005 Toyota Corolla struck the Honda Civic from behind. Upon impact, the Honda Civic was pushed into oncoming traffic where it was then struck by a 2017 Ford Fusion and a 2017 Peterbilt 579 tractor-trailer. The driver of the Honda Civic was flown to VCU Medical Center in Richmond with serious injuries. The drivers of the 2005 Toyota Corolla and the 2017 Ford Fusion were both taken to Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia, with serious non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the 2017 Peterbilt 579 tractor-trailer was checked by medics on the scene and did not require further medical treatment. Each vehicle had only one person inside. The driver of the 2005 Toyota Corolla was identified as Savanah Bedard from Henrico. She was charged with following too closely, not wearing a seatbelt, having an expired state inspection and no proof of insurance.
