GREENWOOD, Ind. — State investigators have cited a Greenwood daycare center for "inappropriate discipline" after a worker reportedly slapped a 2-year-old as punishment.
The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration investigated the slapping incident, which allegedly occurred on Nov. 8, 2024, at the Kiddie Academy of Greenwood on Morgantown Road.
According to FSSA records, "a staff member slapped a 2-year-old in the face with an open hand for spitting in the face of the staff member."
The FSSA's website lists the inspection type as "inappropriate discipline" and states that the issue was "resolved" on Nov. 20, 2024.
However, no other information is provided and the "provider response" section of the complaint is empty.
FOX59/CBS4 is now working to gather more information regarding the incident, including how the staff member was disciplined and whether or not criminal charges will be filed. This article will be updated as more information is confirmed.
The FSSA's website also states that, in addition to the slapping investigation, the Kiddie Academy of Greenwood has been cited for three unspecified "critical health violations." For more information, click here.
