INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We endured our coldest day in just over a year for our Tuesday. Temperatures could not escape the single digits with some spots having their highs occur before sunrise. We will soon break away from this frigid spell as a much deserved warmup is set to enter this forecast. Cold weather advisories will remain in effect until 10 AM Wednesday morning. Tuesday night: One more brutally cold night is ahead for tonight. Subzero lows are expected in some spots with wind chill values as low as negative ten to negative 20 degrees. Wednesday: After a freezing cold start to Wednesday, temperatures look to warm back into the 20s by the afternoon hours. This will be due to a breezy wind out of the south that gusts up to 20-30 MPH at times. Wind chill values also look to rise out of the negative digits by Wednesday afternoon as well, which would be the first time this happens since Sunday afternoon. Thursday: The engine to our warmup stays operable into Thursday. We’ll also track the chance for scattered flurries/light snow showers. Highs are going to push into the upper 20s to low 30s. 7-Day Forecast: Friday features a brief stall-out of our warmup before we work our way into the mid to upper 30s for the final weekend of January. There is a low chance for precipitation towards Sunday, but much of the activity at this time looks to be south of central Indiana. Temperatures stay in the 30s through early next week.
